I must confess that I have “sinned” in some way against nearly all the relationships of my life. That admission pains me more than you can know, and I wish it were not so. I’ve “sinned” against Brenda the love of my life, the last person I would ever want to hurt. I have “sinned” against Leah, my only child, my own flesh and blood. And I have “sinned” against nearly all my friends at one time or another. I don’t want to admit this, but I must for only then can you see how pervasive sin really is. Only then can you understand how desperately we need the gift of forgiveness.
“If we claim we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves.”
— 1 John 1:8 (NLT)
Lord help us forgive those who have sinned against us. Amen.
