Never is the heart more deceitful than when we attempt to justify our sinful actions by citing the evil done by others, as if our transgressions will be excused because they are not as great as someone else’s. God will not judge us based on what others have done but by His holy law. And since we can never live up to God’s righteous requirements, our only hope is to trust in the finished work of Jesus Christ – His sinless life, His sacrificial death and His glorious resurrection.
“God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.”
— 2 Corinthians 5:21 (NIV)
Lord Jesus, You are our only hope and we thank You for being made sin for us that we might be made the righteousness of God. In Your holy name we pray. Amen.
