I could read no further, so I put my finger between the pages and sat there with silent tears running down my cheeks. I was weeping for the author who couldn’t weep for himself. I was weeping for the lonely drinker seeking relief in a bottle, the single parent struggling against all odds to make a normal life for herself and her children, and for the teenager who is shunned because she doesn’t fit in. I was weeping for our broken world and I was weeping for myself.

— Romans 12:15 (KJV)
