The first thing my father taught me was to love the house of God. When I was born on December 16, 1946, my parents did not own a car yet before I was two weeks old, they were wrapping me in warm blankets and carrying me to church. Think about it. They walked nearly two miles through the Colorado cold to take me to church and I’ve been in the Lord’s house ever since. There was one question never asked in my father’s house—“Are we going to church?” If the church doors were open, we were going!

“I love the house where you live, O Lord, the place where your glory dwells.”

— Psalm 26:8 (NIV 1984)

Lord help us be godly fathers who teach our children to love Your house. Amen.
