When we seek for life’s deepest meaning and fulfillment in God and God alone, He allows us to experience joy in our work, our friends and our families. Now these “things” no longer betray us, for they have ceased to be substitutes for God and have become the gifts of God. Well did Francis Tompson say, “All which I took from thee I did but take, not for thy harms but just that thou might’st seek it in my arms.”
“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness,

and all these things will be given to you as well.”
Lord Jesus, You are my only security, my only source of fulfillment. Help me to seek for my life’s meaning in You and You alone. In Your holy name I pray. Amen.
