In biblical times a father would lay his hands upon his oldest son and imparted God’s blessing to him. As a result, his son was empowered to fulfill his God-given destiny. In our day fathers impart their blessing during the normal day to day interactions with their children. Those children who receive their father’s blessing are empowered, spiritually and emotionally, to fulfill their destiny. Those children who do not receive their father’s blessing are left with a wound in their soul that threatens to cripple them for life.
Let me leave you with a question. “Have you blessed your children?”
“…he burst out with a loud and bitter cry and said to his father, “Bless me—me too, my father!”
— Genesis 27:34 (NIV 1984)
Lord Jesus help us to bless our children. Amen.
