Although he lived in evil times Daniel became a man of impeccable character, moral strength, and spiritual integrity. How did he do it? First, he refused to compromise his values no matter how small the issue. He purposed in his heart he would not defile himself (Daniel 1:8). Secondly, he remained humble. He gave all the glory for his accomplishments to the Lord. Thirdly, he remained true to his daily spiritual disciplines (Daniel 6:10) even at the risk of his own life.
“[Daniel] went home. And in his upper room, with his windows open toward Jerusalem, he knelt down on his knees three times that day, and prayed and gave thanks before his God, as was his custom since early days.”
— Daniel 6:10 (NKJV)
Lord help us be faithful to our spiritual disciplines. Amen.
