Not only does Jesus have authority over sickness but He also has authority over demons. Every time He confronted a demon or demons He triumphed over them. In Luke 8 he was outnumbered 6000 to 1 still the demons had to flee. He cast 7 demons out of Mary Magdalena and she became the first witness to His resurrection. (Mark 16:9). Another time he delivered the daughter of a Canaanite woman who was “…grievously vexed with a devil” (Mt. 15:22 KJV). I could continue but I think my point is obvious. Demons were simply no match for Jesus.

“When Jesus stepped ashore, he was met by a demon-possessed man…When he saw Jesus, he cried out and fell at his feet, shouting at the top of his voice, ‘What do you want with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I beg you, don’t torture me!’ For Jesus had commanded the impure spirit to come out of the man.”

— Luke 8:27-29 (NIV)

Lord Jesus, help us to remember that you have given us authority over all the power of the enemy. Give us faith to walk in that authority so Your kingdom may be established. In Your holy name I pray. Amen.
