When trouble comes we do not despair; nor do we castigate ourselves for our lack of faith or berate ourselves for some imagined sin, neither do we blame God. Instead we simply acknowledge that as members of this human family we are subject to the inevitable storms of life. And because we know that “in all things God works for the good of those who love him” (Romans 8:28), we find strength in Christ, not only to endure trouble and hardship but to overcome it.

“The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears them;
he delivers them from all their troubles.”

— Psalm 34:17

Lord Jesus, teach us to trust You no matter how severe the storm. Give us strength to endure. In Your holy name we pray. Amen.
