If you have never been terrified in the Lord’s presence, then you have never truly experienced His glory. When Isaiah saw the Lord high and lifted up, he was stunned and he cried, ““Woe is me, for I am undone!” (Isaiah 6:5). When John saw the glorified Christ, he fell at his feet as if he were dead (Revelation 1:17). When Peter realized who Jesus was, he said, ““Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord” (Luke 5:8)! An overwhelming sense of unworthiness is the only appropriate response to a manifestation of the Lord’s glory.
“When my glory passes by, I will put you in a cleft in the rock and cover you with my hand.”
— Exodus 33:22 (NIV)
Lord may we see You as You are so we can worship You as we should. Amen.
