Life’s richness flows out of its rhythm. Only a madman would try to plant in the dead of winter or harvest in seedtime. The fruitfulness of his labors depends on his willingness to work within the seasons of nature, within the rhythm of the land. By the same token, we live self-defeating lives when we ignore the divinely ordained rhythm of work, rest, worship, and play. To truly become all God has called us to be, we must live in rhythm with Him.
“There is a time for everything,
— Ecclesiastes 3:1
and a season for every activity under heaven.”
Lord Jesus, teach us to balance our busyness with solitude, our work with rest. Let us walk away from time to time so we can return refreshed and renewed. In Your holy name we pray. Amen.
