Peyton Jones entered the hospital for a minor surgical procedure. Suddenly he went into cardiac arrest. For twenty minutes his heart did not beat. When he had his death experience he was a man who had been deeply wounded by the ministry. He says, “My pastoral heart had been broken so many times that I’d learned to live and work hurt. And it cast a shadow over my life. Somehow, by being in His presence for twenty minutes when my heart stopped beating, the brokenness was healed by Jesus. Now everything I do is for Him.”
“But they will have to give account to him who is ready to judge the living and the dead.”
— 1 Peter 4:5 (NIV)
Lord Jesus, help our brokenness so we can live only to impress You. In Your holy name I pray. Amen.
