When we speak of the trinity, we are referring to one God manifest in three persons—Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit. Any attempt to explain the Trinity using human analogies will ultimately breakdown, nonetheless, let me use the analogy of H2O to help you understand. H2O exists in three forms. Between 32 degrees and 212 degrees Fahrenheit it is a liquid. We call it water. Above 212 degrees Fahrenheit it is a gas. We call it steam and below 32 degrees Fahrenheit it is a solid. We call it ice. But in whatever form it is still H2O! So it is with God. He reveals himself as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—different manifestations but identical “DNA.”

“For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form.”

— Colossians 2:9 (NIV)

Lord renew our minds so we can grasp these truths. Amen.
