How, you may be asking, can I escape the tyranny of my destructive self-will? First come clean with God. Honestly confess those areas where greed and lust control your life. Ask Jesus to break their power. Finally, “…count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus” (Romans 6:11). Resist evil, by choosing to do His will and not your own, by choosing to give Him your absolute allegiance and highest loyalty.

Almighty God, I thank you for delivering me from my destructive self-will. Help me to live fully devoted to Your will. In Your holy name I pray. Amen.
