Culture says, “If it makes you happy do it!” Jesus says, “If anyone wants to be a follower of mine, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me” (Matthew 16:24 TLB). Culture says, “Eat, drink, and be merry.” Jesus says, “What do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? Is anything worth more than your soul” (Mark 8:36-37 NLT)? Culture says make financial security your goal. Jesus says,
“Beware! Guard against every kind of greed. Life is not measured by how much you own…a person is a fool to store up earthly wealth but not have a rich relationship with God.”
