I was just thirteen-years-old and kneeling between the first and second pew in the South Houston Assembly of God church when the Lord called me to preach. There was no audible voice, no vision, but His call could not have been clearer. When I arose from the place of prayer my destiny was set. I was a called man, set aside by God for the work of the ministry. As the Bible says, “No one takes this honor upon himself; he must be called by God” (Hebrews 5:4).
“We speak as those approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel. We are not trying to please people but God, who tests our hearts.”
— 1 Thessalonians 2:4 (NIV)
Thank you, Lord Jesus, for trusting me to preach the gospel. In Your holy name I pray. Amen.
