Not even the heroes of faith went through life unscathed. Normally we like to remember their most Christ like moments, but it may be equally beneficial to recall their devastating sins. Not as a way of excusing the evil we have done, but as a way of reminding ourselves that God’s grace is always greater than our sins. If God could forgive them, if He could use them in spite of their blatant carnality, then there’s hope for us no matter what we have done.
“But God had mercy on me so that Christ Jesus could use me as a prime example of his great patience with even the worst sinners….”
–1 Timothy 1:16 (NLT)
Lord Jesus, thank You for not giving up on me, for not casting me out on the scrap heap of life. Because of Your great mercy I am redeemed. In Your holy name I pray. Amen.
