Before you repeat something you’ve heard ask yourself three questions. 1) Have I checked it out to make sure it is true? 2) Will what I am about say be edifying or will it cause distress? 3) Will it produce good or evil? I agree with Pope Francis who said, “Gossip is a bad thing. In the beginning it may seem enjoyable and fun, but in the end, it fills our hearts with bitterness and poisons us, too!”
“Keep your tongue from speaking evil and your lips from telling lies.”
1 Peter 3:10 (NLT)
“A perverse man stirs up dissension
— Proverbs 16:28 (NIV 1984)
and a gossip separates close friends.”
Lord purify our hearts for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. In Your holy name we pray. Amen.
