Those who pass the test of praise usually do so because they refuse to take themselves or their achievements too seriously. They see success not as a plum to be picked, but as a responsibility to be fulfilled toward God and their fellow man. Like Daniel of old they “…are neither corrupt nor negligent” (Daniel 6:4). And even their enemies are forced to conclude: “…‘We will never find any basis for charges against this man…’” (Daniel 6:5).

Lord Jesus, help me think of whatever personal accolades I might receive as compliments to be passed on to You for only You are truly worthy of praise. In Your holy name I pray. Amen.
