Although the ant is tiny, and of primitive intelligence, it still has the good sense to work hard and plan ahead. Because it gathers and stores its provisions in the summer it has plenty when winter comes. The lazy person, on the other hand, can find a hundred excuses for not working. “The sluggard says, ‘There is a lion outside!’ or, ‘I will be murdered in the streets!'” (Proverbs 22:13). He justifies his laziness and suffers the inevitable consequences. God will not prosper a lazy person. He blesses the work of our hands, not our idleness.
“The sluggard craves and gets nothing, but the desires of the diligent are fully satisfied.”
— Proverbs 13:4
Lord, bless now the work of our hands this day and every day. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen.
