Is your brook drying up? Have the ravens stopped delivering? Of course I’m speaking metaphorically of those times when God’s promised provision fails to materialize. When Elijah’s life was threatened God told him to “…hide in the Kerith Ravine…You will drink from the brook, and I have ordered the ravens to feed you there” (1 Kings 17:3-4).

Then the brook dried up!

So what happened? Did God’s promises fail? No! A thousand times no! God had another plan and Elijah’s provision was dependant on his obedience, as is yours.

“Then the LORD said to Elijah, ‘Go and live in the village of Zarephath…I have instructed a widow there to feed you.’”

— 1 Kings 17:8-9 (NLT)

Lord Jesus, You alone are my source—not the brook or the ravens and not the widow. Help me to put my faith in You alone. In Your holy name I pray. Amen.
