Although my sins are forgiven and I have no condemnation, I am still grieved by my past sinful failures. I think that’s the way it should be. If we do not see how our sins grieve the heart of God then we cannot fully appreciate the magnitude of His grace. If our sins are inconsequential then so is His grace. But if we realize that our sins—however large or small—are indeed grievous then and only then can we truly appreciate His amazing grace.
“The grace of our Lord was poured out on me abundantly, along with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.”
— 1 Timothy 1:14 (NIV 1984)
Lord Jesus, help us to never make light of our sins lest we fail to fully appreciate the magnitude of Your grace. In Your holy name I pray. Amen.
