Relationships are a mixed bag—richly rewarding and at times extremely stressful. Often there are hurt feelings, disappointments, and misunderstandings. When that happens, it is critically important to remember the relationship is more important than your hurt feelings. Even if you feel the other person is to blame, ask the Lord to show you what you may have done to cause the misunderstanding, and/or what you can do to restore the relationship. If the Lord shows you where you are to blame, apologize without making excuses for your behavior. Never say, “I’m sorry but…”

“Making up with a friend
you have offended
is harder than breaking
through a city wall.
Make your words good—
you will be glad you did.”

— Proverbs 18:19-20 (CEV)

Lord forgive us and heal the hurts we have caused. Amen.
