If we want a life blessed by the Lord Peter commands us to “Search for peace, and work to maintain it” (1 Peter 3:11). Jesus said, “Blessed are the peace makers for they will be called the sons of God” (Matthew 5:9). Peace makers realize that relationships are more important than being “right” and willingly choose to maintain peace rather than stir up dissention by arguing. Proverbs 6 says there are seven things the Lord hates and one of them is “a man who stirs up dissention among brothers.
“A hot-tempered man stirs up dissension,
But a patient man calms a quarrel.”
— Proverbs 15:18 (NIV 1984)
“A man who lacks judgment derides his neighbor,
— Proverbs 11:12 (NIV 1984)
But a man of understanding holds his tongue.”
Lord help us to be peace makers. In Your holy name we pray. Amen.
