It’s easy to become disoriented when we find ourselves in the middle of a severe life storm. That’s why it is important to have a scripturally based action plan in place before the storm strikes. My action plan involves at least four steps. Step one: Stay with the ship. When the apostle Paul found himself caught in a hurricane at sea, he told the captain, “Unless these men stay with the ship, you cannot be saved” (Acts 27:31 NIV). Don’t abandon your church and don’t abandon your faith. Stay with the ship. It’s your only hope.
“ ‘Staying with it—that’s what God requires. Stay with it to the end. You won’t be sorry, and you’ll be saved.’ ”
— Matthew 24:13 (MSG)
Lord Jesus, give us the strength to hang on even when it seems as if all hope is gone. In Your holy name we pray, amen.
