There are many things about the apostle Paul to admire—his intellect, his passion for Christ, his fearless obedience, his willingness to suffer hardship and persecution, the anointing of the Holy Spirit that rested on his ministry, and the fact that he finished strong. As a young man he studied under Gamaliel (Acts 22:3) but when it came to the gospel, he did not receive it from any man, nor was he taught it; rather he received it by revelation from Jesus Christ (Galatians 1:12). Here’s an example of his intellectual prowess.

“At once he began to preach in the synagogues that Jesus is the Son of God. All those who heard him were astonished… [he] grew more and more powerful and baffled the Jews… by proving that Jesus is the Messiah.”

— Acts 9:20-22 (NIV)

Lord Jesus, help all of us to be prepared to share the gospel. Amen.
