In Gethsemane, when Jesus desperately needed their prayer support, his closest disciples couldn’t stay awake. Instead of praying, they slept, oblivious to the agony of His soul. When Judas betrayed him and the temple guards arrested Him, they all forsook Him and fled. Even Peter denied him. Jesus suffered all this and more, as the prophet says, “In the house of (His) friends” (Zechariah 13:6).

Whatever you are suffering, Jesus understands. He’s experienced it, He’s been there. He knows what it is like, and He stands ready to intervene on your behalf.

“Since he himself has gone through suffering and testing, he is able to help us when we are being tested.”

— Hebrews 2:18 (NLT)

Lord Jesus, we pray for those who have been sorely wounded by their family or close friends. Heal their wounded souls. Amen.
