If you are suddenly blindsided by what Peter calls a “fiery trial,” you may leap to any number of wrong conclusions. You may conclude that you are suffering because there is sin in your life and fall under condemnation. You may conclude that you are suffering because your faith is weak and grow discouraged. Or you may even be tempted to believe that God can’t be trusted, that His promises are not true, all because of your unrealistic expectations.

“Friends, when life gets really difficult, don’t jump to the conclusion that God isn’t on the job…This is a spiritual refining process, with glory just around the corner.”

— 1 Peter 4:12–13 (MSG)

Father God, thank You for trusting me with this fiery trial. Use it to reveal Your glory in me. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
