Herein lies the tension in which we live. On one hand we have the clear teaching of Scripture portraying God as our all-powerful heavenly Father who is eager to intervene on our behalf. On the other hand, we are confronted with the reality of painful situations that seem immune to our most desperate prayers. If God genuinely cares, if He is truly touched by the feelings of our infirmities, why doesn’t He do something? Some say He is too wise to ever make a mistake and too loving to ever cause us harm. That makes sense to me intellectually but on an emotional level I struggle with it. I want God to intervene, and I want Him to do it now!
“How long must I wrestle with my thoughts and every day have sorrow in my heart?”
— Psalm 13:2 (NIV 1984)
Hear our cry O’Lord and answer our prayer. Amen.
