Life can be hard. You get laid off, your teenage daughter gets pregnant, your spouse is diagnosed with a terminal illness, or your marriage ends in divorce. If you’re facing a life-altering situation, you have probably wept until you have no strength left to weep. That’s what David did when he learned that enemies had kidnapped his family and plundered his home. (See 1 Samuel 30:3–4). But he didn’t get stuck there.
He dried his tears and “strengthened himself with trust in his GOD” (1 Samuel 30:6 MSG).

What are you going to do? Are you going to throw in the towel and give up, or are you going to strengthen yourself in the Lord?

“They will have no fear of bad news; their hearts are steadfast, trusting in the LORD.”

— Psalm 112:7 (NIV)

Lord Jesus, teach us to strengthen ourselves in the Lord so that we will never fear bad news, no matter how bad it is. In Your holy name we pray, amen.
