The New Testament church was a praying church. They interceded. They fought against the powers of darkness. They wrestled with principalities. They prayed in the spirit, in tongues, with groanings that could not be uttered. They prayed prayers of faith for divine healing, for deliverance, for miraculous provision. They made their requests known with thanksgiving. They praised God in all things and at all times. They built themselves up in the most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost.

“The prayer of a person living right with God is something powerful to be reckoned with. Elijah, for instance, human just like us, prayed hard that it wouldn’t rain, and it didn’t—not a drop for three and a half years.”

— James 5:16–17 (MSG)

Lord Jesus, teach us to “pray hard” so that impossible situations like this current crisis are reversed. In Your holy name we pray, amen.
