Dietrich Bonhoeffer courageously took a stand to protect Jews in Nazi Germany. Because of his stand, he could no longer support the German state church. He helped create a new fellowship called the Confessing Church and led an illegal seminary. He eventually became active in the resistance movement, which led to his arrest and execution.

Why did Bonheoffer risk life and liberty to oppose the Nazis and protect the Jews? Because “Christ wills that the weak and persecuted should be rescued, and He must be obeyed.”

Are you willing to obey Christ even at the risk of your life?

“I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me…”

— Acts 20:24 (NIV)

Lord Jesus, may obedience to Your will be the consuming passion of my life. In Your holy name I pray, amen.
