Dr. G. Earl Guinn writes, “While spading the yard I disturbed a snake that had hibernated for the winter. When he came racing out to do battle I cut his head off with the point of the shovel. To my surprise that serpent continued to writhe on the ground even though I had cut his head off.” When we were crucified with Christ the head of our sinful nature was cut off. When we are tempted we are simply experiencing the death throes of our old nature. Now the only power sin has in our life is what we give it.
“Those who belong to Christ have nailed their natural evil desires to his cross and crucified them there.”
— Galatians 5:24 (TLB)
Lord Jesus, thank you for crucifying the old man of sin. By the power of Your Holy Spirit I will reckon him dead! In Your holy name I pray. Amen.
