Look around you; I mean really look. What do you see? Probably lonely hurting people within arm’s reach, maybe right there in your own family. I’ll admit that it’s not easy to love lonely, hurting people but they’re often desperate for our love. When it seems impossible to love that difficult person, ask Jesus to help you look beyond their behavior, to help you to see that even when their actions are hostile and defensive they are often crying out for love.

“…Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other.”

–John 13:34 (NLT)

Lord Jesus, forgive me. Rather than being loving I am often selfish and demanding. Change me. Make me a holy lover. In Your holy name I pray.
