She was guilty. The religious leaders had caught her in the very act of adultery. They urged Jesus to condemn her, citing the Law of Moses. I can identify with her, and you probably can too. We’ve all been caught red handed at one time or another. Our sin may be different from hers, but it is no less serious. “For the wages of sin (any sin) is death…” (Romans 6:23).

So what did Jesus do? Although He was qualified to cast the first stone, He didn’t. Finally only the woman and Jesus remained. Looking her in the eye He said,

“‘…neither do I condemn you. Go now and leave your life of sin’”

— John 8:11

Lord Jesus, write Your message of grace on my wounded heart so that I may go and sin no more. In Your holy name I pray. Amen.
