Keeping the Ten Commandments can’t atone for a single sin so what is their purpose? To show us our sins. Romans 7:7 says, “…I would not have known what sin was had it not been for the law.” (Romans 7:7). The law was given to show us what God expects from us. It also reveals our sinfulness and our desperate need of a savior.
Would it shock you if I told you I am guilty of breaking all Ten Commandments? You are too! Now before you protest your innocence consider James 2:10.

The sad truth is we will never measure up to God’s holy requirements. But what we cannot do for ourselves God has done for us in Christ Jesus.
