According to Phillip Keller, author of “A Shepherd Looks at Psalm 23,” it is virtually impossible for sheep to lie down and rest unless they are free from fear, free from friction with other sheep, free from parasites, and free from hunger. The same principles apply in our own lives. Unfortunately, our world is filled with strife and turmoil making it increasingly difficult for us to find a quiet place. Nonetheless the presence of Jesus—the great shepherd of our souls—can give us peace and rest if we will draw near to Him.
“This peace will keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
— Philippians 4:7 (NLV)
Lord Jesus, hold us close so we may find peace for our souls. In Your holy name we pray. Amen.
