Years ago, J. Lee Grady offered some timely advice to spiritual leaders. “1) Live a humble, transparent life. Confess your sins to God and to your inner circle regularly. 2) Stay open to correction. 3) Be careful how you handle the little things. 4) Stay in touch with the real world. You will never develop compassion unless you are close enough to lay hands on the sick and cry with those who are in pain. 5) Don’t allow people to make you a celebrity.
