For years I struggled with what the wise man refers to as “reckless words” (Prov. 12:18). In public I managed to keep my angry words under control, but with my family I could be a terror. In desperation I turned to God. In the early stages of the battle, I found it necessary to pray several times a day. As I was faithful to pray God was able to gradually turn this angry man into a patient one, even a gentle one. And what He did for me He will do for you.
“Set a guard over my mouth, O Lord; keep watch over the door of my lips”
— Psalm 141:3
Lord Jesus, heal the deep wounds that have become a reservoir of anger. Give us a peaceable spirit. In Your holy name I pray. Amen.
