When the Scriptures speak of the heart they are referring to the core of an individual’s being, who he is as a person. In biblical language, the heart is the source of emotions, the fountainhead of thoughts and desires, the motivating force in life. All that a man does, whether good or evil, originates in his heart. Jesus said, “A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things” (Matthew 12:35 NKJV).
“Above all else, guard your heart,

for everything you do flows from it.”
Lord Jesus, purify my heart. Create in me a right spirit. In Your holy name I pray. Amen.
