If David, a man after God’s own heart, could succumb to sexual temptation then it could happen to anyone. So what made David susceptible? There is probably any number of factors, but the thing I want to focus on is David’s emotional state. It’s quite possible he was having a midlife crisis. He had achieved more success than he ever imagined possible, but it wasn’t enough. Emotional needs make all of us vulnerable to temptation. If we are not careful, we will try to meet legitimate emotional needs in inappropriate or even sinful ways. That may be what happened to David.

Lord Jesus, lay Your healing hands upon our wounded spirits. Heal our wounds I and renew a right spirit within us. In Your holy name I pray. Amen.
