Yesterday we examined our checkbooks. Today, as this year draws to a close, let’s turn our attention to our calendars. Are you investing your time (your life) in eternal things, or is it dominated by temporal concerns—your career, how much money you make, the kind of car your drive, where you live, etc.? All of these things are temporary, of little consequence in light of eternity. Unfortunately, we live in a culture that majors in the temporary, and if we are not careful we too will succumb to its fascination with the now.
“For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul?”
— Mark 8:36 (ESV)
Lord Jesus, It is hard for me to focus on eternal things. Heal me and help me to see clearly. Amen.
