Are you struggling with doubt and staggering at the promises of God? Don’t be too hard on yourself. Doubt is not necessarily a bad thing as much as it is a real thing. And we should always be careful to distinguish between doubt and unbelief. Doubt is an involuntary emotion while unbelief is an act of the will. Doubt inevitably yields to the power of His presence, as in the case of Thomas who cried, “My Lord and my God!” Unbelief, on the other hand, hardens into rebellion. The unbeliever chooses not to believe regardless of the evidence.

“Then he (Jesus) said to Thomas, “Stop doubting and believe.””

— John 20:27 (NIV)

Lord Jesus, we believe. Help us to believe more. In Your holy name we pray. Amen.
