The ministry of the apostle Paul was characterized by signs and wonders. He writes, “All the signs that mark a true apostle were in evidence while I was with you…” (1 Corinthians 12:12 MSG). The New Living Translation puts it this way: “…I certainly gave you proof that I am an apostle. For I patiently did many signs and wonders and miracles among you.” Yet for all of that Paul suffered a physical infirmity, a “thorn in the flesh,” that the Lord refused to heal.
“Three different times I begged the Lord to take it away. Each time he said, ‘My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.'”
— 2 Corinthians 12:8-9 (NLT)
Lord, help us to accept our weaknesses so Your power may rest upon us. Amen.
