The consuming passion of the apostle Paul’s life was his desire to serve Christ and complete the task the Lord Jesus gave him. Nothing else mattered—not his personal comfort or safety—if only he could complete the task of testifying to the gospel of God’s grace (Acts 19:24).

What’s the consuming passion of your life? Don’t brush over that question. Seriously consider it. What’s the consuming passion of your life? Is it popularity? Is it making lots of money? Is it a quest for power? Or is your consuming passion a desire to please the Lord?

“For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?”

— Mark 8:36 (KJV)

Lord Jesus, may the desire to please You be the consuming passion of our lives. Amen.
