When I think of the apostle Paul, I think of the churches he planted, the things he suffered for the sake of the gospel, the things he wrote…thirteen of the twenty-seven books of the New Testament bear his name, fourteen if you count Hebrews.
Yet when Paul thinks of himself, he doesn’t think of what he did for Jesus rather he thinks of what Jesus did for him.
“Even though I was once a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent man, I was shown mercy because I acted in ignorance and unbelief. The grace of our Lord was poured out on me abundantly, along with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.”
— 1 Timothy 1:13-15 (NIV)
Lord, help us to always remember what You did for us. Amen.
