Yesterday was Valentine’s Day and we focused on God’s unconditional love. May I remind you that we didn’t do anything to earn His love and there’s nothing we can do to nullify His love. Romans 8 declares that “…nothing will ever be able to separate us from the love of God.” Consider the words of Fredrick Lehman’s great hymn—“The Love of God”:
Could we with ink the ocean fill,
And were the skies of parchment made;
Were every stalk on earth a quill,
And every man a scribe by trade;
To write the love of God above
Would drain the ocean dry;
Nor could the scroll contain the whole,
Though stretched from sky to sky.
Lord Jesus may Your love overwhelm us. Help us to realize that Your love can’t be paid back but only be passed on. Amen.
