Jesus spent more time talking about money than any other single topic. So, what does the Bible teach about money? First the Bible teaches us not to put our confidence in material things, but in God alone. Secondly the Bible warns us of the seductive power of money and its inherit danger. Thirdly the Bible commands us to seek first the Kingdom of God. Fourthly the Bible teaches us that the only way to overcome our greedy materialism is to give regularly and sacrificially. And finally, the Bible teaches that receiving is a consequence of giving, but never a goal.

“Command those who are rich in this present world not to…put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God…”

— 1 Timothy 6:17 (NIV)

May our hope be in You Lord, and only You. Amen.
