We know that Jesus was a student of the Scriptures not by direct reference, but by inference. While the gospels give a detailed overview of His prayer life, they are silent regarding His study habits. That He was a student of the Word, however, is evident throughout the gospels. For instance, by the age of twelve He was so versed in the Scriptures that He was able to astound the teachers in the temple for three days. Luke says, “…all who heard Him were astonished at His understanding and answers” (Luke 2:47). Well Jesus might have said:
“I meditate on your precepts and consider your ways. I delight in your decrees; I will not neglect your word.”
— Psalm 119:15-16 (NIV 1084)
Lord Jesus give us a passionate hunger for Your word. Amen.
