Do you struggle to pray? Me too. In fact, prayer is often a source of frustration for me; nevertheless, I continue praying. Why? At the core of my being, I have a heart hunger for God, a yearning to know Him and be known by Him. It is an “itch” that only prayer can scratch. I may not be very good at prayer—I may even stray from it from time to time—but always I am drawn back. What breath is to my body, prayer is to my spirit.
“As the deer longs for streams of water,
— Psalm 42:1–2 (NIV)
so I long for you, O God.
I thirst for God, the living God.”
Lord Jesus, hear our desperate cries and satisfy our heart’s longing. Amen.
